TOT on Adolescent & Youth Reproductive Health

General Objective:
The broad objective of the training
is to make A&Y RH program more efficient, equitable and sustainable
by strengthening leadership and managerial skills of the participants
working in A&Y RH field
The specific
objectives of the TOT are to-
• Increase participants’
understanding and enrich their knowledge on ARSH issues
• Develop facilitation skills of the participants to make training
course(s) in their organization effective and interactive
• Facilitate the participants how to communicate with adolescent
in a effective way
• Develop their skills in preparation of training materials and
to manage and evaluate the training

The participants will be drawn from
the organization working in adolescent field by sending the training
brochure to the organizations, by physical contact and though on line.
The program
designed for:
• Senior. and mid level programme managers in public health field
who are responsible for operationalising ARSH programme at national
and district level
• Senior. and mid level programme managers of NGOs who are planning
ARSH project/programme
• Persons with policy-making responsibility in NGOs that are seeking
to redefine or expand their ARSH programme.
• Training cell of different organization involved in training
on different issues.The number of participant is limited to 10-15
The programme adopts a participatory approach. Several HRD instruments
will be used to help the participants to learn about themselves. The
program will be conducted through lecture –cum-discussion, case
study, simulation exercise and group work.
Expected Outputs
of the training:

HIV/AIDs, Gender & Human Rights

Introduction:
Every country in the United Nations has reported cases
of AIDS. The HIV epidemic is truly global. In Bangladesh, HIV remains
at low prevalence but at high risk as all types of risk behaviors are
rampantly present. Those factors are as low condom use, sex workers,
high prevalence of STDs, lack of awareness, inadequate access to RTI
related health services, unscreened and unsafe blood transfusion, high
use rate of drugs, trafficking of women and children for sex trade,
self complacency for low prevalence of HIV and ignorance about the pandemic,
etc are the major causes of vulnerability on HIV/AIDS. Lives of people
in Bangladesh are marred by poverty, gender discrimination, inadequate
education and work opportunities, rapid urbanization and related dynamics.
In this context whatever the number of HIV/AIDS cases in Bangladesh,
preventing the transmission of STIs and HIV, which leads to AIDS, is
a major concern of every one. For promoting more conducive environment
for the HIV/AIDS prevention program, the current situation emphasizes
on capacity building and it has significant implications at the community
as well as national level.
Health consultant Associates Ltd (HAL)
is a networking of best quality health management consultants established
with experts having experiences of working with the public and private
sectors from national policy planning to field implementation. The HCL
has design a short duration training course on `HIV/AIDS, gender and
human rights’. The initiative will enhance the institutional capacity
on HIV/AIDS prevention issues.

Who should attend:
• The course is suitable for mid level managers
and field level program staff in public health field who is responsible
for operationalsing HIV/AIDS at national, district and upazila level.

Course Objectives:
The main objective of the training is to facilitate the participants
in gaining a clear understanding and sensitizing on prime issues related
to HIV/AIDS, in the context of Bangladesh.

and current status of HIV/AIDS both globally & country perspective
• Identify risk factor involved in HIV/AIDS prevention in the
country context and situation
• Explain safer sexual behavior and condom demonstration.
• Have a clear conception about inter personal communication and
communication skill.
• Identify the gender, human right as major cross cutting issues
in relation to HIV/AIDS.
• To know the process of community mobilization on HIV/AIDS prevention
program

• Factual information on HIV/AIDS (Global, and Country)
• Risk Factors/vulnerable situation prevailing in the country
• Sex, sexuality, Sexual Health and its relation with HIV/AIDS

• Human Right and HIV/AIDS
• Impact of HIV/AIDS
• Communication concept and Communication Skill
• Community mobilization
• Peer education and peer approach in HIV/AIDS prevention program.
Training Method:
The issues discuss in the training is
very sensitive in nature and require a lot of effort and time for discussion.
Variety of tools will be use to create a more vibrant environment for
the training participants for the active engagement in the process.
The following participatory & experiential learning methods will
use in facilitating the training sessions.

Methodology
(Special):
• Some activities will be explore
to develop and share good practices i,e; structure exercises & interaction
with participants.
• Seating arrangement will mostly the floor instead of table and
chair. A non-judgmental norm will set out and a great deal of emphasis
will be given on maintaining confidentiality since quite often-individual
experiences will be share in the large group.

Computer Application in Health Care & Hospital Management

I. Introduction:
Health Care Institutions in Bangladesh
is moving rapidly towards the 21st Century, competing successfully with
other industrially and technologically advanced countries in the world.
With liberalization and globalization of the economy, there is urgent
need for institutions to become efficient, reduce costs, and manage
available resources more effectively for quality assurance and patient
satisfaction. Large number of hospitals are being setup in the lines
of hotel chains, some of them with international collaborations and
multi-national corporations and as well as a pure national industry.
All categories of hospitals, corporate, private, voluntary, Government
& industrial hospitals would have to gear up their systems for efficiency,
effectiveness, quality assurance & cost reductions. Effective management
of health programs depend on timely and accurate availability of information
through management information system (MIS) which can be ensured by
a computerized management information system (CMIS). Keeping in view
the emerging scenario and the role of computerization in management
and decision making, this training is being organized.

The training is open
to professionals and administrators of hospitals and health systems
from Government, private, and missionary institution, principals and
deans of medical and health professionals, training institutions, health
and hospital consultants, system experts and consultant in computer
training consultancy and sales organization, senior faculty from health
management raining institutions.
VI. Fee & Certificate:
Registration fee is
Tk.6000. The fee includes training materials, lunches, morning –
afternoon tea /coffee / certificate & group photo. Certificate will

Health Sector Reform Issues and Leadership
The Programme
The course offers an unrivalled opportunity
for a small group of health sector practitioners and policy makers to
discuss issues of health sector reform and Leadership approaches/techniques.
Through a combination of lectures, workshops,
case analyses and discussion groups, the programme will strengthen and
enrich participants’ ability to manage complexities and improve
performance. Individual and group work on selected topics is integrated
into the programme, constructed around participants’ own issues,
giving participants the opportunity to learn from each other as well
as with the faculty. They will learn the latest approaches to systems
improvement and will have the opportunity to develop their own plans
and approaches in moving from Policy to Action.
Participation in the course will link
themselves into an influential network involving their peers, faculty
and the agencies supporting and driving health sector reform.
The Venue
Sessions will be held at the HAL/NICARE
office (conference room) located at House 14/C (5th floor), Road 95,
Gulshan, Dhaka.
Participants
Up to 20 participants will be selected
to attend in each batch. They will be health programme leaders, policy
makers and senior managers of health sector, programme or projects experiencing
changes or need for adopting changes in policy and strategies. The individuals
selected will have the demonstrated leadership at a senior level, and
will have the potential to make significant improvements in the health
programme. Participants will come from public and private service delivery,
financing and policy-making organizations.
Contents:
Course contents will include: Policy
context and reform issues, Leading and managing changes, Financing health
system, Demand side financing, Equity in health and reaching the disadvantaged.

The Learning Process
The programme will rely upon innovative
presentations, syndicate group discussions, video recordings and case
analysis, guided by the respected faculty who have wide experience in
health sector policy reform, health system design and performance improvement.
The course structure will encourage
extensive interaction among participants and faculty. Our educational
philosophy is that the exchange of ideas is essential for learning.
Participants will apply the knowledge gained when they return to their
own environment.
Participants are expected to prepare
advance material based on their own work experience, which will form
the basis of work within the programme. The participants will have exposure
to some useful computer applications. Participants who are unfamiliar
with working with PCs will be given personal guidance in their use.
Course Fee
Course fee is Taka 10.000. The fee includes
all documentation, course notes, meal and other refreshments throughout
the course and a course dinner. A limited number of participants attending
from small NGOs of with self-financing will receive waver (25-50% depending
each case) of the course fee.

Nominations to attend the course will
be reviewed by the course organizer and selection will be made on first
come first serve basis.
Nominations should be sent to the course

letter stating the role of the individual and providing a brief carrier
profile within the organization, together with reasons for wishing to
participate. Self-nominations are acceptable. Response to nominations
will be sent out after each selection committee meeting. Late nominations
