Interventions:
Starting in 2004 it started to contribute in capacity building of the public as well as NGOs and for-profit private sectors and have provided a number of small but of important TA. Mentioned below some of the innovative ongoing interventions of HAL: a) Development and maintenance of interactive web portals To assist optimum information
dissemination and interactive communication in the health sector HAL
is in the final stage of launching a master web portal www.bdhealth.info
It will aim to contain all pertinent information related to health in
Bangladesh starting from census data, vital statistics, policy strategy
documents, learning dossiers etc. In launching
these web portals, HAL encouraging individuals, public health professionals,
health ngos and others to use www.bdhealth.info to find pre-screened
information for solving health challenges. The
service will be free to users and web network members. Individual and
institutional members will post their profiles on the site. Donors and
clients will contact members directly. Members ill also receive info
updates on important policy strategic issues, notification on events,
adds, job opportunities and bidding opportunities that donors and clients
post.
b) Library/electronic document archive and dispatch services
When there is need to
explore new solutions to health challenges at the same time it can be
seen that sharing and use of already available learning experience are
not done optimally. Non-availability of documents on continuum learning
on health sector experiences at a know place is a constraint for this.
HAL is therefore building a Library and an electronic document archive
for making available to prospective users at need.
c) Work with Private Sector:
Pre packaged services
for the fast growing private hospitals will include: Training on Hospital
management, application of computerized MIS, waste disposal and health/hygiene
training for menial staff. Together with Association of Private Hospital/Clinic and DGHS, HAL will
make efforts towards introducing a private hospital QA, medical audit
and rating system.
d) Health Systems capacity building:
Capacity building will be done through the following: - Health Leadership development training - TA for programme review, development of health sector strategy paper, design/re-design programme, monitoring and evaluation - Integrating Health into poverty alleviation programme and targeting the hardcore poor - Development of Community based Organizations for Health - Public-Private-Partnership development - Mainstreaming Gender in Health - In-country and regional study visits e) Development/running non conventional health courses: Contact
